ESTABLISHING NEMT INDUSTRY STANDARDS

NEMTAC® is dedicated to ensuring safe medical transportation and has a role in the establishment of American National Standards that affect our industry. Our standards development activities have a broad scope, ranging from high-quality customer care, safe vehicle operations, life safety and ethical business practices

ANSI ACCREDITATION

As the voice of the U.S. standards and conformity assessment system, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) empowers its members and constituents to strengthen the U.S. marketplace position in the global economy while helping to assure the safety and health of consumers and the protection of the environment.

The Institute oversees the creation, promulgation and use of thousands of norms and guidelines that directly impact businesses in nearly every sector.

ANSI is also actively engaged in accreditation - assessing the competence of organizations determining conformance to standards.

CALL TO ACTION

Whenever a new NEMT standards project is initiated, NEMTAC® has formed a Standards Development Committee from the Advisory Board members to review and approve new standards or revise an existing standard.

You may apply to be part of the Standards Development Committee (Certification & Standards  Advisory Committee). Participation is based on the need for particular interest categories, which are users of NEMT services, vendors of NEMT equipment and vehicles, and those who have a general interest in NEMT safety standards, such as academia, consultants, and other governmental agencies.

NEMTAC® will issue a press release once a standard is developed and open for public comment, so stay connected and join our mailing list!

PAYOR/REGULATORS

The NEMT industry (comprised of both private and publicly run organizations providing medically necessary transportation) has often operated under fragmented regulations and disparate operational standards. These vital transportation services often serve as the safety net for Medicaid recipients, the elderly, the disabled and those with low incomes to access healthcare services.

Why is NEMTAC® Accreditation Important to Payors and Regulators?

For the medical transportation industry, obtaining accreditation distinguishes an organization and signifies to its customers and stakeholders that they have met the NEMT industry standards of excellence.
NEMTAC's comprehensive accreditation process often exceeds those established by state or local regulators and are designed to increase utilization, serve as a market differentiator and decrease liability.
NEMTAC accreditation ensures that an NEMT organization has met or exceeded the highest standards of quality care.
Patients, hospital systems, payors, elected officials and key stakeholders know they can trust the services a NEMTAC accredited company is providing.
By obtaining accreditation, payors, health plans, health systems and insurances companies will have confidence that their members are in the best hands with the best standards.
NEMTAC accreditation is affordable and serves as a significant market differentiator for NEMT companies.
As state and federal regulations change, our accreditation provides a framework for updating practices, policies and procedures.
As a third-party, objective, unbiased organization, NEMTAC has obtained the highly coveted American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accreditation as a standards developer for the NEMT industry.
NEMTAC standards help the NEMT company focus their priorities, overcome operational challenges and advance leadership and governance.

NEMT PASSENGERS

Simply put, taking care of people is why non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) companies exist.

NEMTAC accreditation communicates to passengers and their families that the company provides exceptional quality and adheres to compliance standards. Accreditation means something to those organizations.

NEMTAC® accredited companies and their Certified Transport Specialists (CTS)®

are showing a remarkable commitment to the communities they serve. While simultaneously improving their business operations, they offer outstanding quality and are recognized as market leaders. NEMTAC accreditation gives our NEMT partners and their personnel benefits that are unparalleled in the industry.

All NEMT companies need to meet state and federal regulations to be able to operate.

However, passengers can rest assured that NEMTAC standards exceed “meeting” requirements. NEMTAC accredited companies want to be the best by providing:
-Quality Medical Transportation
-Enhancing Internal Business Processes.

Healthcare agencies and passengers in need of medical transportation services have high standards.

Our accreditation demonstrates to them a commitment to quality and allows them to feel confident about the provision of medical transportation services within their community.
