NEMTAC® Accreditation: A Trusted Standard for Quality and Safety
NEMTAC® offers the only national accreditation program made just for non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) providers. Getting accredited by NEMTAC shows that your company follows the highest standards in safety, service, and professionalism.

Some states have already recognized the value of NEMTAC Accreditation. For example, the state of Mississippi accepts NEMTAC Accreditation as an alternative to a state license. In Minnesota, brokers offer special incentives to providers who earn accreditation before January 31st each year. These policies help improve the quality and safety of NEMT services for the people in those states.
We are also actively working with other states to implement similar programs, where NEMTAC Accreditation could be recognized as a trusted alternative to traditional state licensure. These ongoing efforts are helping to strengthen standards and improve service quality nationwide.

NEMTAC only approves up to five organizations per month, so each review gets careful attention. The number of spots available is reviewed regularly by our Board of Directors.
It’s important to know that our survey team does not give advice or help companies get ready. Their job is to fairly evaluate your organization based on the standards in the handbook. Remember, NEMTAC Accreditation has set standards that must be met, even if local rules and regulations are different.
Once you can check "YES" to everything on the readiness checklist, you're ready to move on to Step 3.

Submit the "Seeking Accreditation" application and pay the Application fee* to be placed in the assessment queue.
Following successful Accreditation you will select full or monthly payments.

NEMTAC® Accredited Organizations
The Board of Directors established a strategic alliance with Professional Credentials Exchange (ProCredEx), leading to the creation of a cutting-edge online platform that streamlines the credentialing process. This system has been in place for two years and continues to enhance efficiency, allowing organizations to assess their readiness before requesting an assessment survey. Currently, multiple organizations are actively pursuing accreditation through this platform. All NEMTAC® Accreditations remain valid for three (3) years from the date of award by the Board of Directors.
As part of the established process, applicants must submit a $600 application fee when applying. They have the flexibility to pay the accreditation fee either upfront or through monthly installments. This comprehensive fee provides full access to all services offered by ProCredEx. Accredited organizations are already fully integrated into the system, ensuring a seamless experience.

Before you begin your accreditation process, be sure you qualify for NEMTAC® accreditation
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR ACCREDITATION
Applicable licenses as required by your City and State.
You must have an Employer ID Number (EIN).
The National Provider Identifier (NPI) is necessary for Medicare/Medicaid transports and is required for NEMTAC accreditation.
Your organization must have a minimum of 12 months in service and offer NEMTAC-accredited services, such as non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT), wheelchair transportation, and stretcher van services.

The accreditation fee is $3,000, which includes a non-refundable $600 application fee. Organizations have the option to either pay the full $3,000 upfront to receive a discounted rate or opt for a monthly payment plan of $83.33 per month, totaling $3,600 over the payment period.

NEMTAC Accreditation represents industry best practices while remaining scalable to organizations of all sizes and service models. Achieving accreditation demonstrates your organization’s commitment to quality and compliance to passengers, customers, regulators, payors, and the broader NEMT community.

Once an application is submitted to NEMTAC, an organization should allow 90 days to complete the accreditation process. The timeline is contingent on the efficient flow of information between NEMTAC and the organization seeking accreditation. NEMTAC accreditation is valid for a three-year (3) period, provided that all required credentials remain current in ProCredEx and all fees are kept up to date.
